(Copyright Mel Steinhauer All Rights Reserved) Walking around the narrow streets in Split, the capitol of Croatia, one can easily lose their sense of direction. The high stone walls often hide your view of familiar landmarks, so you can be temporarily lost. I know because somewhere near the gallery area in the main square, I was lost and accidentally entered this alley. That's when I saw a small cafe with an unusual name and realized I was ... Going Gaga.
I created this black and white image from my original color photograph taken on location by adding digital enhancements, textures or other effects. These effects and image details will become more visible by clicking inside the green magnifier square as the cursor is placed over the image.

About Mel Steinhauer
My love for photography began as a boy when I was taught the basics by my father. During a tour of duty with an Army Combat K9 unit in Vietnam, I bought a professional model Nikon SLR camera and dreamed of becoming an artistic photographer when I returned home. A family of my own and a new career put that dream on hold for many years, but I had always enjoyed photography as an art form. Then, after surviving another kind of war with cancer back in 1997, I began to really see the beauty in our world.
