Especially during the summer when we were out of school and had lots of time to play in our neighborhood. Down our street at the bottom of the hill there was a train yard and several sets of tracks. Back then it was safe for kids to go exploring and have adventures on our own, so we did. Trains passing through town, or loading and unloading were always interesting to watch, plus dear old Mom encouraged my brother and I to get out of the house to go play somewhere with our friends.
