Artist's Description
(Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved) The oldest sea port in the United States was once home to early explorers from Spain. In 1513 they named this region La Florida, or the Land of Flowers. As a navigational aid for their ships sailing the waters near the north end of Anastasia Island, the Spaniards built a watchtower which later became Florida's first lighthouse. Due to storms and erosion it eventually came crashing down into the sea in 1880. A replacement tower built of Alabama brick and Philadelphia iron was completed in 1874. Then, after surviving another kind of war with cancer back in 1997, I began to really see the beauty in our world. Ever since then I have been inspired with a new awareness of life and an improved photographic vision. This has compelled me to find beautiful scenes wherever I go and to share my favorite creations with others who may not have the time or...
