Artist's Description

(Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved) During The Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union, our Navy built a 27 acre island about 500 yards from the shores of Key West Florida. The original government plan was to use this island as a fuel tank depot, so it was officially named Tank Island. However that plan never became a reality and years later this man-made island was sold to private developers. Every evening as the sun sinks slowly in the west, hundreds of tourists come to Mallory Square on Key West just to watch Nature's spectacle. Now you can easily see why they changed the name from Tank Island to ... Sunset Key.

Ever since then I have been inspired with a new awareness of life and an improved photographic vision. This has compelled me to find beautiful scenes wherever I go and to share my favorite creations with others who may not have the time or...
