(Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved) In the early 1930s, the last great train station was built in the United States. The Cincinnati Union Terminal is a massive dome structure with an arched limestone and glass facade, filled with the character and style of art deco. The rotunda has several beautiful mosaics depicting the history of The Queen City. During World War II this huge train station was a major transfer point for miliitary personnel, but then travel by trains declined in the 1950s due to the development of interstate highways and airports. The building was purchased by the city in 1990, restored and converted into a museum center which flourishes today. The beautiful dome interior spans 180 feet and reaches a height of 106 feet. I was inspired by the beauty all around me and amazed when I looked straight up to see even more ... Terminal Art.

My love for photography began as a boy when I was taught the basics by my father. During a tour of duty with an Army Combat K9 unit in Vietnam, I bought a professional model Nikon SLR camera and dreamed of becoming an artistic photographer when I returned home.
