(Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved) Way back in 1970, the State Legislature officially adopted "The Sunshine State" as their nickname and even today you will see it on the license plates of vehicles driven by it's residents. Our southernmost state has an abundance of it, however when many people think of visiting there they usually head for the miles and miles of sandy beaches along the Atlantic or Gulf Coasts. During my recent winter escape to the Panhandle area on the Gulf of Mexico, I also explored the beautiful Eden Gardens State Park. Over 160 acres on the historic Wesley Homestead provided me with some wonderful natural scenery. About Mel Steinhauer
My love for photography began as a boy when I was taught the basics by my father. During a tour of duty with an Army Combat K9 unit in Vietnam, I bought a professional model Nikon SLR camera and dreamed of becoming an artistic photographer when I returned home. A family of my own and a new career put that dream on hold for many years, but I had always enjoyed photography as an art form. Then, after surviving another kind of war with cancer back in 1997, I began to really see the beauty in our world.
