(Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved) The bright red color of the Temple Bar in Central Dublin , caught my eye and kept me from walking by. This corner bar was established in 1840, and is full of Irish history and traditions. You cannot help but notice the life-size portraits of Sir William Temple and Lady Martha Temple, both happily raising a toast to all passers by. They have live music daily, Powers Pure Pot Sill Whiskey, and a plate of oysters to wash down with a Pint of Guinness. I chose the meat and potatoes instead of the oysters, and just as the sign above the corner entrance proclaimed, I discovered that ... Guinness Is Good For You.

My love for photography began as a boy when I was taught the basics by my father. During a tour of duty with an Army Combat K9 unit in Vietnam, I bought a professional model Nikon SLR camera and dreamed of becoming an artistic photographer when I returned home. A family of my own and a new career put that dream on hold for many years, but I had always enjoyed photography as an art form. Then, after surviving another kind of war with cancer back in 1997, I began to really see the beauty in our world.
