Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. (Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved) A breath-taking view of Fira, built on the steep slopes of an ancient volcano, on the Greek Isle of Santorini. Small cafes, shops and hotels built on top of one another, were connected by narrow pathways and steps. Cruise ships and ferries bring a continual stream of tourists by sailing on the beautiful Aegean Sea. The late morning sun brightened the white buildings and defined the many visible details. Guests lounging at the hotel pool, U.S. and Greek flags on a patio and empty tables and chairs, just waiting for those who enjoy ... Living On The Edge.
I created this image from my original photograph taken on location by adding digital enhancements, textures or other effects. These effects and image details will become more visible by clicking inside the green magnifier square as the cursor is placed over the image.
About Mel Steinhauer
My love for photography began as a boy when I was taught the basics by my father. During a tour of duty with an Army Combat K9 unit in Vietnam, I bought a professional model Nikon SLR camera and dreamed of becoming an artistic photographer when I returned home. A family of my own and a new career put that dream on hold for many years, but I had always enjoyed photography as an art form. Then, after surviving another kind of war with cancer back in 1997, I began to really see the beauty in our world. Ever since then I have been inspired with a new awareness of life and an improved photographic vision.
