(Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved) The oldest amusement park in southern ohio was built way back in the 1800s on the banks of the Ohio River. This made it a popular destination for the old paddlewheel steamboats to ferry passengers back and forth from the city, before cars and good roads became available. As the banks of the river were heavily wooded, something was needed to help the steamboat captains find their way. So that's why just a few miles up river from Cincinnati at the entrance to a popular amusement park, they built the ... Old Coney Island Lighthouse.
I created this image from my original photograph taken on location by adding digital enhancements, textures and painterly-style effects. These effects and image details will become more visible by clicking inside the green square magnifier as the cursor is placed over the image.

My love for photography began as a boy when I was taught the basics by my father.
