(Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved) The Old World cities in Europe are abundantly filled with a variety of beautiful architecture dating back hundreds of years. It is often difficult to imagine how such buildings were constructed without the use of tools and machines that are available today. Massive stone blocks were perfectly cut with only hand tools and then were lifted to quite often incredible heights or placed with precision to create beautiful entrances or open spaces such as this. One day in the south of France in a city along the Rhone River, I truly enjoyed the simple beauty of these... Arches And Columns.

My love for photography began as a boy when I was taught the basics by my father. During a tour of duty with an Army Combat K9 unit in Vietnam, I bought a professional model Nikon SLR camera and dreamed of becoming an artistic photographer when I returned home. A family of my own and a new career put that dream on hold for many years, but I had always enjoyed photography as an art form. Then, after surviving another kind of war with cancer back in 1997, I began to really see the beauty in our world.
