(Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved) On Happy Hollow Road near Clermont along the beautiful Kentucky Bourbon Trail, you will find the Jim Beam Distillery. Way back in 1787, a German Immigrant named Jacob Bohm arrived in the area. He knew a lot about farming and distilling whiskey, got to work and that's how it all began. He later changed the family name to Beam and passed down a work ethic, his bourbon whiskey recipe and a family tradition from one generation to the next. Here you can take a tour of the beautiful grounds and learn everything about how his family's bourbon has been made for over 220 years. This newer building is a combination history museum, gift shop and display room of their many products. On a warm and sunny day with a blue sky, I was fortunate enough to capture this image of... About Mel Steinhauer
My love for photography began as a boy when I was taught the basics by my father. During a tour of duty with an Army Combat K9 unit in Vietnam, I bought a professional model Nikon SLR camera and dreamed of becoming an artistic photographer when I returned home. A family of my own and a new career put that dream on hold for many years, but I had always enjoyed photography as an art form. Then, after surviving another kind of war with cancer back in 1997, I began to really see the beauty in our world.
