Description
(Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved) As a mature member of the Baby Boomer generation, I have been known to occasionally lose my train of thought. So one day recently, I decided to go out somewhere and look for it. A quick search on the internet for trains in Northern Kentucky, led me to the nearby Railway Museum of Greater Cincinnati. Here I found quite a variety of historic locomotives, freight cars, passenger cars and much more to think about. All of them are outdoors on tracks where they were meant to be and are in various stages of preservation, repair and restoration. Tended to by hard-working and dedicated train-enthusiasts, they now endure as living pieces of history, nostalgia and Americana. I especially enjoyed my close-up views of this classic stream-lined passenger locomotive which began service with the Pennsylvania Railroad. Built in 1951 and equipped with two V-12 diesel engines it was capable of speeds up to 110 miles an hour, during it's glory days. So if you ever lose your train of thought and happen to be in Northern Kentucky, stop by the museum and have a look at... Pennsylvania Railroad Engine # 5888.
I created this image from my original photograph taken on location by adding digital enhancements, textures and painterly-style effects. These effects and image details will become more visible by clicking inside the green magnifier square as the cursor is placed over the image.
PLEASE NOTE: Our professional printing facilities have a feature for customers who desire artwork prepared for them to be in standard sizes such as 8 x 10, 11 x 14, 16 x 20, 24 x 30, 36 x 24 and so on. When you select your image to purchase, from the SIZE tab choose a VERTICAL, HORIZONTAL or SQUARE format. Notice that some portions of my original image may not be included in these cropped formats. The NATURAL format is the way I composed the image in camera or during final processing. Sometimes this would create an image size which required the use of non-standard mats or frames. So go ahead and see for yourself, by viewing my images in these new formats to decide which one may (or may not) best suit your needs or style of wall art. Of course, you may always choose the NATURAL format and purchase my art as it was originally composed and created.
Many thanks and best wishes!
