Artist's Description

(Copyright Mel Steinhauer All Rights Reserved) Although this is just one of many historic and famous cities of Europe, this scene of the British Parliament may well be the most recognized one throughout the world. Prominently displayed along the Thames River for hundreds of years, Elizabeth Tower with this huge iconic clock face can be easily be seen from a considerable distance. My father spent some brief time in London, during his Army service in World War II, and so I took him back in 1990 for a reunion of his old unit. I was lucky enough to return to England twice more, but I always would have enjoyed having more...Time In London.

I created this image from my original photograph taken on location by adding digital enhancements, textures and painterly-style effects. These effects and image details will become more visible by clicking inside the green magnifier square as the cursor is placed over the image.

Mel Steinhauer

My love for photography began as a boy when I was taught the basics by my father. During a tour of duty with an Army Combat K9 unit in Vietnam, I bought a professional model Nikon SLR camera and dreamed of becoming an artistic photographer when I returned home. A family of my own and a new career put that dream on hold for many years, but I had always enjoyed photography as an art form. Then, after surviving another kind of war with cancer back in 1997, I began to really see the beauty in our world. Ever since then I have been inspired with a new awareness of life and an improved photographic vision. This has compelled me to find beautiful scenes wherever I go and to share my favorite creations with others who may not have the time or...
