Artist's Description
(Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved) Along the rocky coastline of Italy in a well protected harbor, lies a small village often visited by the world's rich and famous. Portofino is best reached by sailing on the Ligurian Sea, preferably in a large yacht. This lighthouse was built in 1917, on the point that forms the natural protection for the harbor. Dark skies and an approaching storm, make the steep cliffs appear even more dangerous to anyone arriving by sea, regardless of their type of vessel. Today this structure still provides a precise visual marker, a powerful beacon at night, and ... A Welcome Light.
I created this image from my original photograph taken on location by adding digital enhancements, textures or other effects. These effects and image details will become more visible by clicking inside the green magnifier square as the cursor is placed over the image.

Ever since then I have been inspired with a new awareness of life and an improved photographic vision. This has compelled me to find beautiful scenes wherever I go and to share my favorite creations with others who may not have the time or...
