(Copyright mel Steinhauer) Charleston, South Carolina is a city rich with history dating way back to our days as a British Colony. Some of the buildings have survived the tests of time and still stand today in the Old Historic District. There are plenty of old homes, museums, office buildings, stores, restaurants and of course a few places to relax with a beverage of your choice. I discovered such a place that displayed a unique sign and some well-worn, propped wide open doors. That alone convinced me it was very popular not only just with tourists, but with the locals as well. As the sign proudly proclaimed that Wet Willie's is not just a bar or not just another place to have a party, because it is ... An Institution.

About Mel Steinhauer
My love for photography began as a boy when I was taught the basics by my father. During a tour of duty with an Army Combat K9 unit in Vietnam, I bought a professional model Nikon SLR camera and dreamed of becoming an artistic photographer when I returned home. A family of my own and a new career put that dream on hold for many years, but I had always enjoyed photography as an art form. Then, after surviving another kind of war with cancer back in 1997, I began to really see the beauty in our world.
