(Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved) All along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail in a beautiful area between Lexington and Louisville, there are many quite famous Bourbon Distilleries. In this area, with waters that are naturally filtered through an underground limestone shelf, the world's finest bourbons are created. After the distilling process has been perfected and completed, it has to restored and slowly age in huge buildings known as "Rack Houses". Although each distillery has it's own unique methods and characteristics, their products all most go through an aging process like this in large wooden...Bourbon Barrels.
I created this image from my original photograph taken on location by adding digital enhancements, textures or other painterly-style effects. These effects and image details will become more visible by clicking inside the green magnifier square as the cursor is placed over the image.

About Mel Steinhauer
My love for photography began as a boy when I was taught the basics by my father. During a tour of duty with an Army Combat K9 unit in Vietnam, I bought a professional model Nikon SLR camera and dreamed of becoming an artistic photographer when I returned home. A family of my own and a new career put that dream on hold for many years, but I had always enjoyed photography as an art form. Then, after surviving another kind of war with cancer back in 1997, I began to really see the beauty in our world.
