(Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved) Not far from the renaissance city of Florence, high atop a hill in the Tuscany Region of Italy rests the medieval city of Volterra. This old walled-city is an ideal stop for tourists to enjoy the many shops, restaurants, history and beautiful scenes. Like walking back into another century when everyday living was so different than it is today. I truly enjoyed my tour of this city and took some time to notice the many little visual treats I found. Like the textures and details of these old stone walls, the rising morning sun, these window shutters and these ... Flower Pot Shadows.
I created this image from my original photograph taken on location by adding digital enhancements, textures and other effects. These effects and image details will become more visible by clicking inside the green square magnifier as the cursor is placed over the image.

About Mel Steinhauer
My love for photography began as a boy when I was taught the basics by my father. During a tour of duty with an Army Combat K9 unit in Vietnam, I bought a professional model Nikon SLR camera and dreamed of becoming an artistic photographer when I returned home. A family of my own and a new career put that dream on hold for many years, but I had always enjoyed photography as an art form. Then, after surviving another kind of war with cancer back in 1997, I began to really see the beauty in our world.
