(Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved) Back in the day, small family farms needed buildings near their home to store animals, tools, equipment and even some types of harvested crops. These were often simple structures they built on their own with the help of relatives or neighbors. Nowadays they have been replaced with much larger, multi-purpose buildings so these old relics of the past are getting harder to find. I discovered this one near the edge of a country road in Northern Kentucky. Although it looked as if it could fall over any time, I thought it still served a purpose to keep a few bales of hay somewhat dry. I wondered about some stories it held of the people who had built it and wished they would have written a song called... My Old Kentucky Barn.

About Mel Steinhauer
My love for photography began as a boy when I was taught the basics by my father. During a tour of duty with an Army Combat K9 unit in Vietnam, I bought a professional model Nikon SLR camera and dreamed of becoming an artistic photographer when I returned home. A family of my own and a new career put that dream on hold for many years, but I had always enjoyed photography as an art form.
