(Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved) Each year over 8 million visitors from all over the world come to this area on the border between Canada and the United States. There are actually three waterfalls, the American, Bridal Veil and the Canadian or Horseshoe Falls which are collectively known as Niagara Falls. Many say that the best place to view the falls is from the Canadian side where you can see them all from a distant point of view. So, after enjoying the sights and sounds of the water roaring over the edge real close from the lookout points in New York's Niagara Falls State Park, I crossed over to the Canadian side. From there I could see the beauty of all three waterfalls and it is truly an amazing sight. The unstoppable and immense flow of water pounding down to the rocks below creates a continually rising mist. My love for photography began as a boy when I was taught the basics by my father. During a tour of duty with an Army Combat K9 unit in Vietnam, I bought a professional model Nikon SLR camera and dreamed of becoming an artistic photographer when I returned home. A family of my own and a new career put that dream on hold for many years, but I had always enjoyed photography as an art form. Then, after surviving another kind of war with cancer back in 1997, I began to really see the beauty in our world.
