(Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved) Will Stephens built this house for his family in rural Florida, in 1912. He did so in the " Cracker Gothic " style which was popular from about the 1870s through the early 1900s. A fireplace was used for heat and the house was raised off the ground for natural cooling during the hot summer months. In 1982, this house was donated and moved to the Manatee Village Historical Park in Bradenton, Florida. There you can easily step back in time and see the church, courhouse, school, general store and other buildings which complete the village. My love for photography began as a boy when I was taught the basics by my father. During a tour of duty with an Army Combat K9 unit in Vietnam, I bought a professional model Nikon SLR camera and dreamed of becoming an artistic photographer when I returned home. A family of my own and a new career put that dream on hold for many years, but I had always enjoyed photography as an art form.
