An old man looking back on a young man's tour of duty during the height of the Vietnam War, in an Army Combat K-9 Unit. My Army Scout Dog and I would walk point for squads of 10 men on ambush and recon patrols in the villages and rice paddies not far from Saigon. Our job on point was to provide the squad with an early warning as to the presence of nearby enemy forces or concealed anti-personnel devices. Our squad and other units served to protect the lives of civilians living and working in our area of responsibility. These are my original photographs from that time period. Click on any one to enlarge it and to read my brief descriptive story for that particular scene. Due to age and degraded image quality, they are not considered to be " Fine Art " and are displayed here mainly to share brief stories from long ago with friends, veterans, dog-lovers or others interested in Military Working Dogs. As such, they are only available for sale as the 5 x 7 greeting card, which could easily be matted and placed in a frame that you purchase locally.
